This food was so good it made me want to Veggie patty came with such a delicious sauce and the soup and tea were so full of flavor too! There were other menu items to try next time and live music to come back for too The owners are so sweet and cultural too. It is worth going here even if you're from cities far away.
My wife and I had the pleasure of discovering this little gem of a restaurant in Abbotsford's Matsqui Village area tonight. It's fantastic. We had the jerk chicken and pork combo platter which was delicious and had enough to feed three so we'll enjoy some leftovers for lunch. We had a couple of nice Jamaican rum cocktails which were great and finished off with some great desserts (check out the rum & pinapple float... yum!). The owners and staff are the absolute best and really make you feel like home. We will be back and hope to time a visit with one of the live music shows there too as that would be even more fun. In the heart of Matsqui Village, Coolrunnings Bistro comes to life at 4:00 pm. You'll find it right on Riverside with bright yellow umbrellas adorning the front. Outdoor seating is available. There is ample customer parking in the back. The service was great, we ordered a jerk chicken nacho plate as a snack to share. We were delighted by the amount of toppings that were included with plenty of jerk chicken. Very large portion and delicious. A DJ arrived for the next evening upon our return and we ordered a Beef entré with rice. Super delicious!! The restaurant is set up for live bands. Cordel, Wayne and Amani are great hosts! We thoroughly enjoyed this great restaurant with a Jamaican/Caribbean vibe, and would highly recommend!! Thanks!!
When I came to Cool Runnings, the restaurant was still closed when I arrived sometime after 5, due to a scheduled catering. Even with the shortage of staff, someone still welcomed me in. I ordered the Jerked Chicken and Pork Combo with the Amani’s Nut Milk cocktail. The drink had a good balance of rum and natural flavouring that almost taste like coconut. The meal came with complimentary soup that was very flavourful. Despite being somewhat spicy, I really enjoyed the meal. The meat was succulent and nicely marinated. The rice and salad were solid good. The interior was dark but clean and spacious. They play reggae music in the establishment, either on a player or live in the restaurant to give it that Jamaican authenticity. The one staff member that served me was very pleasant and did a lot to accommodate me, including making a drink that she did not think she could do. This is a great restaurant for genuine Jamaican food. I hope the next time I come to Cool Runnings, the experience will be better.
I’m always too busy enjoying the food that I forget to take a photo! It was truly amazing, braised pork and chicken combo with Cole slaw, lentil soup, stuffed pepper appy. Such good love food for love day Valentine’s Day!
